Great Thanksgiving with family and friends. NO deer yet, but getting closer. There were a couple of times, I would have traded my 12 GA deerslayer Storm for my Savage .308. I know that with a 150 grain Winchester PP load, I am about 2.5 inches high at 100 yards, right on at 200 and perhaps 7-8 inches low at 300 yards. My .270 with 130 grain loads shoots a little flater, my 30:06 hits a little harder (not much), and the .338 Federal has a heaver bullet, but for an opportunity to do some eastern farmland with mixed hardwoods and big woods deer hunting, you can't go wrong with the .308 Winchester.
