Bow Hunting AFTER Heart Bypass Surgery?

I had the surprise of my life recently as a chain of events led to quadruple heart bypass surgery for me on July 24th. This involved taking veins from both legs to replace four partially or fully blocked arteries in my heart. The operation itself was a success and since I had ZERO prior symptoms and NO prior heart attacks or prior damage, I am doing amazingly well. Prior to surgery I was walking 45 min to an hour a day and doing on average 75 to 100 push ups every other day along with abdominal and stretching exercises, some squats with dumb bells and a few pull ups and chin ups every week. The surgeon indicated that put me ahead of the game from a recovery standpoint which has turned out to be the case.

I am back to walking 2.5 to 4 miles every day, however have been very careful NOT to do any weight lifting, push ups or other upper body exercises to preserve the integrity of the sternum and to try and follow the guidelines given to me on the 5 lb limitation etc.

I actually meet with a cardiologist this afternoon to hopefully give me a clean bill of health to drive a vehicle again and start increasing my physical activity and strength training. The Internet is a wonderful tool and search engine however the volume of information and personal opinions on what one can and cannot or should not do is over whelming. In essence to summarize all of that, is is pretty much an individual thing. Some may NEVER draw a compound bow again and I have also read about guys bow hunting 6 weeks after surgery and getting a nice buck and dragging it out by themselves. Others waited one full year and still had trouble the following season. I just got back from the cardiologist office and though NOT etched in stone, the advice is give up bow season for ONE YEAR. Why take a chance on needing to have your sternum opened up again and rewired? Time will tell how I feel about it, however I KNOW I do NOT want to go back into the OR again.

I realize that no one's surgery is exactly like an other's. There are individuals that had emergency surgery following a massive heart attack in progress and there are older guys like me who had no prior damage or symptoms.

Just looking for some feed back on the topic.

I shoot a Bear instinct compound bow set at 58 lbs and shoot Gold Tip Expedition Hunter arrows #5575 with Bass Pro Backout 3 blade 100 grain broad heads.
