Getting The .35 Rem Ready For This Fall

Spent a little time at the range today with my Marlin Model 336 .35 Rem. Last year I had it sighted in with the Hornady 200 Grain FTX LeverEvolution ammunition. Unfortunately I am currently out of that ammo, however I found a box and 1/2 of Federal 200 grain Power Shok round nose SP ammo which had previously shot very well. The gun club range was extremely wet today from several days of rain, so I did all my shooting at 75 yards. The Federal ammo was impacting about 4 1/2 inches high at 75 yards and shooting slightly to the left of point of aim.

The Marlin is equipped with a Simmons 1.5X5X32 lighted Diamond reticle scope with 1/2 min clicks. I brought the impact down to 1 3/4 inches high at 75 yards and over compensated by adjusting 2 clicks to the right instead of (1) and ended up shooting a 3/4 inch three shot group with the Federal Power Shoks.

Based on familiarity with the scope during several range sessions I moved the windage adjustment 1 click or 1/2 inch back to the left. The gun is now ready out to and a little beyond 150 yards, which incorporates 100% of my terrain when carrying this particular gun.

The gun is a joy to carry and recoil is mild. The Wild West Happy Trigger I had installed last fall makes getting tight groups a lot easier.
