What is different about the NEW All American Rifle from the model 77 series or the Hawkeye series?
Several things:
- Weight is 6 and 1/4 lbs
- Adjustable trigger from 3 to 5 lbs, very crisp, very little rearward movement
- Free floating bbl all the way to the receiver / passes the dollar bill test
- Decent recoil pad
- 22 inch bbl
- Short 70 degree bolt throw, 3 lugs and dual cocking cams
- Full diameter bolt (NO side to side play or looseness)
- Tang safety
- Synthetic stock has built in bedding system with 2 V blocks molded into the stock which also act as recoil lugs
- Integral traditional Ruger rings are NOT used on this model
- Scope bases are included, however you will have to purchase rings of your choice
How does it shoot? From preliminary tests by different outdoor writers and YouTube videos, it shoots better than it should for $350-$400. I did see one test I believe in Field and Stream magazine that the 30:06 tested tended to put the first two shots touching each other and the third one opened up the group a little. I am pretty fussy about accuracy, however I think anyone can live with that type of accuracy. That test does NOT mean all Ruger All American rifles will throw the third shot slightly out of the group.
